“If You Always Do What You’ve Always Done, You’ll Always
Get What You’ve Always Got.” ~ Henry Ford
Hello! My name is Lyndsey Graff, and I am a Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern here at Kaafi Counseling. I was born and raised in Stuart, Florida and later went to Fort Myers for my higher education adventures. I received my undergraduate degree from Florida Gulf Coast University with a Major in Psychology and a Minor in Gender Studies. During my undergraduate time, I was able to participate in research studies, community outreach, and other experiences that furthered my desire and passion to give back to my communities.
With this passion, I decided to further my education (again) and obtained my Master of Arts degree from FGCU in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. While I was obtaining my master’s degree, I was able to work in a variety of settings with different populations and ages. During that time, I worked with my clients through various challenges and diagnoses. I was able to gain experience with working with behavioral outbursts, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, executive functioning, grief and loss,
and other mental health conditions.
Through my education and experience, my knowledge and perspective expanded to truly see just how resilient children, adolescents, and adults are. Wanting to help build and create a safe place for my clients to explore how they view and interpret the world around them, became one of the crucial ingredients to my clinical approach. This building block shaped me as a clinician and is still how I approach my therapeutic alliance with my clients; meeting you where you are at.
Mental health is not a “one size fits all”, therefore being able to use different modalities of therapy such as integrated approaches has allowed me to not just focus on the cognitive aspect of mental health counseling, but also on the behavioral and humanistic approaches. Using different interventions ranging from talk therapy to expressive art has given me the privilege to see progress, growth, and change in my clients.
So, whether this is your first time seeking mental health services or you are looking for a change, I look
forward to going on this journey with you!
