Psychotherapist
“Life is a journey, not a destination.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Reflecting on life experiences and wanting to cultivate change from within, can be a scary process. I feel honored to help create safety and support around this process for others, and have walked with individuals on these personal journeys of self-discovery and change for the past 20 years. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Board Certified Art Therapist, and believe that everyone has their own journey, as I tailor my sessions specifically to the individual and their goals of healing.
My approach is solution-focused, client centered and strength based, mostly using a Cognitive Behavioral framework. I have experience working with many presenting issues and have worked with various populations and settings across the country. From children as young as three, to older adults approaching 100 years old, my experience is diverse. In hospitals, schools, outpatient settings, residential homes, substance abuse treatment centers, hospice, and others, I have walked with many on their journey of self-discovery. I will offer the client to use various art therapy techniques during my sessions, because if there is interest in that modality, for some it is a safe and often more easy form of self-expression than words. Art therapy can also at times allow subconscious issues to emerge and is a powerful way to work on somatic concerns as well. I believe strongly in an individual’s ability to create change from within, to feel motivated and empowered to move forward, even in difficult times.
For the past several years, I have worked within the foster care and dependency system, supporting foster parents and youth. I approach my clients with a trauma-focused lens … as everyone’s story is unique, and healing happens within the individual’s own timeframe and through their own process.
I look forward to working with you, on your own journey of personal growth and healing.
