We are proud to announce that our Somatic Coach and embodiment specialist, Amal Rogers, has recently certified in the healing modality Dancing Mindfulness. Amal will begin offering Dancing Mindfulness classes for our Kaafi Counseling community in the new year. The class will be a ‘come as you are’ experience – no dance experience is required.

Dancing Mindfulness is a multimodal expressive arts practice created by Jamie Marich in 2012 based on her lived experiences of dance as healing. Dancing Mindfulness is a ‘come as you are’ experience – no dance experience is required. There is no choreography or expected performance in a Dancing Mindfulness class, only contemplative movement guided by the participants’ needs and desires. Through a Dancing Mindfulness practice you can discover your own internal rhythm, story, and access deep healing in a trauma informed context.

There are seven elements of the Dancing Mindfulness practice –

  1. Breath
  2. Sound
  3. Body
  4. Mind
  5. Spirit
  6. Story
  7. Fusion

Each class will include a warm-up, a deeper exploratory dance, a cool down, and a discussion. Dancing Mindfulness is a wonderful complement to the Somatic Coaching offered by Amal and to the therapeutic care offered by the clinicians at Kaafi Counseling.

We are thrilled to be offering the complex and powerful practice of Dancing Mindfulness. Our classes will be offered weekly and virtually for accessibility and the health and safety of participants and our facilitator. Dancing Mindfulness is a ‘come as you are’ experience – no dance experience is required, so come and dance with us!. Register here to receive more information.
